What a Happy New Year the people of Springfield received from their City Council. They gave us a present for the new year by raising the tax rate from $17.89 per $1,000 of valuation to $19.50 per $1,000. We need to thank the City Councilors that are leaving and the 2 City Councilors that remain who voted yes without having any real input on this action.
We must thank Councilors Jose Tosado and Kateri Walsh for this and assume that the coming year will result in more presents to the citizens of Springfield from these 2 City Councilors.
At least City Councilors James Ferrrera and Tim Rooke didn't want to partake in this misguided action at a time when our citizens are scrimping to get by even though some who can't afford the trash fee which was suppose to be part of what we already pay in our taxes are having their trash receptacles confiscated by the city. Mayor Dominic Sarno must be pleased! What ever happened to the elimination of the trash fee that Mayor Sarno promised when he first ran for office? The only things that are being eliminated are our citizens' trash receptacles. The three Musketeers ( Sarno, Walsh and Tosado ) has given this city more fees and more taxes and instead of bringing people to Springfield they are chasing them away. We are losing our tax base instead of increasing it. Mayor Sarno, Kateri Walsh and Jose Tosado what you didn't take in consideration is the real sad part of all this is that some of these citizens may lose their homes. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year, Im sure you three can afford it.

Vote Ron Jordan for Change

Ron Jordan for City Council

My name is Ronald Michael Jordan and I am running for City Council in Springfield. I have lived in this city for over thirty-five years and am striving to make a difference in our community. I have been going door to door talking to my fellow neighbors, listening to their important thoughts and concerns. Many of my neighbors have expressed to me that their concerns were being ignored and I want to change that. Ward 7 has increased crime and a police presence is needed. Elderly affordable housing and taxes are paramount on their minds. These are not the only issues but these need to be addressed. The time is now to change how business is done in Springfield. I am creative and know that I have the answers to many of these problems. I have expressed these to my neighbors. I promise to work my hardest; not only for my ward but for the city that I love.
